Winnipeg police seized a loaded 9mm handgun along with several hundred rounds of ammunition and a number of edged weapons from a traffic stop early Tuesday morning in the Centennial neighbourhood.

Police said a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox was driving erratically on Isabel Street and was stopped near Sherbrook Street and Ross Avenue. The 21-year-old driver didn’t have a valid driver’s license and was arrested.

A loaded 9mm handgun was found concealed in his waistband, police said in a news release. Also found was six grams of cocaine, some Percocet and about $1,600 in cash. The ammunition and other weapons were found in a search of the vehicle, police said.

The 21-year-old faces a variety of weapons and drug charges. He is in custody.
