Traffic signal crews will be closing various sections of curb and median lanes intermittently over the next four weeks. These closures are part of preparations for the demolition of concrete barricades and major construction work set to begin in mid-November.

The upcoming construction is expected to significantly change how the intersection operates, improving safety for pedestrians, vehicles, and cyclists. Planned work includes the removal of barrier walls, installation of new traffic signals and streetlights, curb extensions for shorter pedestrian crossings, and updates to medians, curbs, and sidewalks.

The project is scheduled for substantial completion by June 20, 2025, with final completion by June 27, 2025. This work will pave the way for Winnipeg Transit’s new Primary Transit Network, set to launch on June 29, 2025. The new pedestrian crossing at the intersection is expected to open by July 1, 2025.
