An 18-year-old male from Mosakahiken Cree Nation had been wanted on a warrant for second-degree murder in the June 7 homicide of a 29-year-old man. RCMP provided no further details on the arrest.

On June 7, at around 6:25 a.m., Moose Lake RCMP were called to a report of an unresponsive male located inside a residence on Sinclair Street in Mosakahiken Cree Nation. When they arrived at the residence, officers located an unidentified deceased male with injuries consistent with a homicide.

Four days later, RCMP announced that Mounties had identified a suspect in the homicide and that an arrest warrant had been issued.

On Wednesday, RCMP said that officers with RCMP Major Crime Services had been in The Pas to continue to progress the investigation and to look for the suspect, who was believed to be in the area.

“The RCMP thanks the public and the media for their assistance,” Manitoba RCMP said in a release.
