The project included the removal of the old play structure, relocation of the toboggan slide, installation of a new accessible play structure, and independent play elements. The upgrades also feature a three-bay swing set with an accessible swing, new asphalt paths, additional park furniture, and a new sandbox. The project was funded through the City of Winnipeg’s 2023 capital budget at a total cost of $247,000.
“This is a great project for the community and especially for the daycare at Windsor Community Centre,” said Councillor Mayes. “The opening was delayed due to construction issues, but I am delighted it is now ready for use in 2024. I want to thank the Windsor Community Centre leadership for their support.”
MLA Moses added, “This improved playground will be a wonderful addition. I look forward to bringing my kids here and enjoying the space with other St. Vital families. Thank you to Councillor Mayes for being a strong advocate for our community.”
For clarification, Windsor Community Centre is located in St. Vital, not to be confused with Windsor Park, which is in the St. Boniface ward.
