Robbery and carjacking on William Avenue

Wednesday afternoon, around 4:50 p.m., Winnipeg Police responded to a robbery and carjacking in the 400 block of William Avenue.

Police said they spoke with the victim, a 33-year-old man. He told officers he had been waiting in a parking lot when a lone suspect approached him, demanded property, and forcibly pulled him out of his vehicle. During the confrontation, the suspect struck the victim in the upper body with a weapon before taking off in the victim’s white 2009 Toyota Sienna, bearing Manitoba license plate LES991.

The victim sustained significant but non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the assault.The Major Crimes Unit is leading the investigation and is working to provide an updated description of the suspect. No arrests have been made.

If you see the stolen vehicle, police advise against approaching it and urge you to call 911 immediately.
