Shamattawa man charged with second-degree murder in stabbing death

On Monday, just before midnight, Shamattawa RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence in the community.

Officers went to the nursing station where the victim had been transported where they learned a 35-year-old male had succumbed to his injuries.

On Wednesday, a 33-year-old man was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He remains in custody.

Police said the victim and the accused were known to each other and both resided in Shamattawa.

Shamattawa RCMP, RCMP Major Crime Services, and RCMP Forensic Identification Section continue to investigate.
