Stolen vehicles flee from police

The Winnipeg Police Service responded to two separate incidents where vehicles took off from police and were later confirmed to be stolen.

General Patrol officers from the North District were patrolling near King and Flora Saturday night when they caught sight of a vehicle driving erratically through a traffic light.

The vehicle escaped the police, went westbound on Logan Avenue and then entered a parcade at the casino on McPhillips Street. After a short foot pursuit, the two individuals were taken into police custody. The vehicle was confirmed stolen.

Early this morning a Ford F350 truck with a Saskatchewan license plate broke into a construction trailer in the 3900 block of Portage Avenue. The break-in was observed by security and police were contacted.

General Patrol from the West District located the truck in a parking lot west on Portage near the perimeter and attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle fled and subsequently rammed into the police vehicle, refusing to stop. The truck continued to flee and crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a second police vehicle before it was stopped. No one was injured in these collisions.

A 25-year-old male, from Lampman, Saskatchewan was taken into custody and is faces charges.
