Teen charged after car crashes into a car, two fences and a house

A red Buick being driven erratically in the 400 block of Eugenie Street around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday led to charges for a 15-year-old boy.

The police helicopter found the 2013 Buick Verano in the back lane of Horace Street, where it pulled into a parking lot on Youville Street.

When police attempted to stop the vehicle, they said it fled at high speed, losing control and crashing into a chainlink fence, a parked vehicle, a wooden fence, and a residence on Des Meurons Street.

The police helicopter tracked the driver as he fled on foot, guiding officers to a location on Horace Street, where he was arrested. A youth passenger was taken into custody at the scene but was not charged.

The 15-year-old driver from Winnipeg faces charges including flight from police, possession of stolen property, break and enter, failure to stop at the scene of an accident, and failure to comply with a sentence. He remains in custody. No injuries were reported.
