Teens attacked with machete outside school, 17-year-old female faces charges

On the morning of Oct. 16, two teenagers were attacked by another teen wielding a machete outside a school in the 100 block of St. Mary’s Road. The incident occurred during a physical altercation among a group of youths off school property. During the fight, one of the teens pulled out a machete and struck two others, ages 15 and 18.

Thanks to the protection provided by their clothing and backpacks, the victims sustained only minor injuries and did not require medical attention. School staff intervened, stopping the fight and contacting the police. The accused fled the scene before officers arrived.

On Oct.19, the suspect, a 17-year-old female, was arrested and taken into custody. She faces charges of assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon. She was released on an undertaking as mandated by the criminal code.

Police and school administration have been in contact, and the school division has notified the families of those involved.
