Three Winnipeggers charged with drug trafficking

In June 2024, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Guns & Gangs Unit began an investigation into individuals suspected of trafficking illicit drugs within the city. The investigation identified three suspects connected to three residences, two located in St. Boniface and one in the Sage Creek neighbourhood.

On November 8, police executed a search warrant at a home in the 500 block of Ritchot Street. A 38-year-old woman was arrested. Officers seized approximately 10 grams of methamphetamine, valued at $500, and 3.5 grams of cocaine, valued at $350. The woman faces two charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and was released on an Undertaking, as required by the Criminal Code.

A second search warrant was carried out at a residence in the 400 block of Ritchot Street, resulting in the arrest of a 42-year-old man. A stun gun was found on his person and seized as evidence. The search of the residence uncovered a money counter, scales, vacuum sealers, and packaging materials. The suspect faces charges of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order. He was also released on an Undertaking.

A third search warrant was executed at a residence in the first block of Des Hivernants Street North, including a linked vehicle. An adult male suspect was arrested without incident. Officers seized multiple cell phones, Ray-Ban smart glasses, and approximately $130 in cash. A further search of the residence, vehicle, and an industrial garbage bin on the property led to the discovery of multiple laptops, 155 grams of cocaine worth $11,000, 36 grams of methamphetamine valued at $1,900, and $5,000 in Canadian currency.

A 41-year-old Winnipeg man was charged with possession of cocaine and methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, as well as possession of property obtained by crime. He is in custody.

Police believe the three suspects are known to each other and were working together in the trafficking of illicit drugs. The investigation remains ongoing.
