Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure (MTI) announced the closure, which spans from Provincial Road (PR) 334 to a point west of PR 334.

The closure is necessary for extensive reconstruction efforts that include improvements to both the highway and the Canadian Pacific Kansas City railway. Key enhancements involve the installation of new railway tracks, upgraded signals and the widening of the rail crossing, alongside general surface improvements.

Both westbound and eastbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway will be affected during this period. To minimize disruption, MTI has established detour routes. Westbound traffic will be redirected onto Provincial Trunk Highway (PTH) 100, followed by PTH 3 and PTH 2, with motorists returning to the Trans-Canada Highway via PR 248. Eastbound traffic will follow a similar detour route, using PTH 13, PTH 2, and PTH 3 before merging back onto the Trans-Canada Highway.

While most commercial vehicles can utilize the detour, MTI has imposed restrictions on long combination vehicles, limiting their travel to daylight hours only. MTI personnel will be stationed along PTH 2 to oversee and ensure the safe passage of these vehicles.
