A Winnipeg man faces aggravated assault charges after police responded to reports of an erratic man screaming outside a residence in the 400 block of Augier Avenue. Officers were directed to a mobile home and forced entry, finding a 42-year-old man with serious upper body injuries.
Police says they found the suspect inside the residence and took him into custody without incident. The injured man was transported to hospital in critical condition but has since been upgraded to stable.
The investigation revealed that the suspect and victim were at the suspect’s home when, for unknown reasons, the suspect armed himself with a metal object and repeatedly assaulted the victim, causing severe injuries and rendering him unconscious. The two men were known to each other.
A 39-year-old man from Winnipeg has been charged with aggravated assault and remains in custody.
