Victim hospitalized after being attacked on Sutherland Avenue

An assault victim is in stable condition in hospital after being attacked in the North Point Douglas neighbourhood.

Winnipeg police responded to the report of an assault at the corner of Sutherland Avenue and Maple Street North on Tuesday.

Officers found a male with serious upper body injuries, already receiving assistance from the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service.

The victim, a 50-year-old man, was transported to the hospital in unstable condition but was later upgraded to stable.

The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation. Initial findings indicate that the victim was part of a group of males when an argument broke out. The situation escalated, leading two suspects to chase the victim and assault him multiple times before fleeing the scene.
