Victim shot in face in random BB gun attack: Manitoba RCMP

A 20-year-old man faces numerous charges after Thompson RCMP were called to the basketball courts on Thompson Drive in the community on Tuesday evening, for a man shooting his air pistol randomly at individuals using the venue.

During the incident, a 32-year-old man playing volleyball with friends was struck in the face by a BB pellet.

Witnesses were able to provide a description of what the suspect was wearing and the direction he took off. The suspect was unknown to the victim.

Police tracked the suspect and during the foot pursuit, he fired the BB gun at an officer, hitting him multiple times. Officers used a taser to subdue the suspect, who was then taken into custody.

The volleyball player sustained minor injuries. The officer was not physically harmed.
An 18-year-old woman who was with the suspect, was also taken into custody but later released with a court date.

The 20-year-old faces charges including two counts of discharging an air gun or air pistol with intent, as well as assault with a weapon, and carrying a concealed weapon. Additionally, he had an outstanding warrant for a robbery that occurred in 2022.

He was been remanded in custody.
