David Weber wasn’t afraid to roll the dice when it came to his passion for tabletop gaming, so in the spring of 2022, he opened Victory Pints at 213 Hespeler Ave.

“We strive to offer the largest variety of board games in Manitoba in the most welcoming environment,” Weber said. “If we don’t have the game you’re looking for, we’ll do our best to help you find it.”

Games and accessories line the walls of his bright storefront, which offers an ever-growing selection. Those who use active transit can safely store their bikes inside the shop while they browse.

“Board games are just an excuse to spend time with friends,” said Weber, adding they offer a much-needed break from cell phones and computer screens.

The store’s name is a play on the term “victory points,” he explained.

“But also, it’s meant to communicate the casual nature of the store,” Weber said. “As in, come grab a game that you can enjoy with your buddies while you have a beer.

To that end, Victory Pints hosts a games night every Wednesday at the Kilter Brewing Company, where folks can try out different games with friends.

For Weber, the perfect game has easy-to-understand rules that let you relax, use your wits, and spend time with the people who are important to you.

“Tabletop gaming is a great way to spend time with friends and family, and in this world, there is a place for everyone,” he said.
