Mayor Scott Gillingham announced he will host the Winnipeg 150 Mayor’s Ball at the RBC Convention Centre on Oct. 5, which will raise money to support Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Manitoba Opera, Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, and Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.

The event will be feature performances by all four groups.

“Winnipeg 150 is an opportunity to celebrate our city’s vibrant arts and culture scene,” said Gillingham in a press release. “For over 50 years, these four major performing arts organizations have contributing to our community’s vibrancy. The Mayor’s Ball will be an evening of performances and community celebration with proceeds going to these organizations to help foster the next generation of artists and performers.”

Tickets and sponsorships are now available for purchase on the city’s website. Everyone who purchases a ticket will receive a tax receipt through the Winnipeg Foundation.

In addition to the Mayor’s Ball, a number of other Winnipeg 150 community events and celebrations are planned for throughout the year.
