In this new role, Allard will focus on integrating advanced technology, such as artificial intelligence, to improve city services. Mayor Gillingham emphasized that adopting new technology is key to enhancing service delivery for Winnipeggers, making processes faster and more efficient.

Councillor Allard will act as a link between City Council and Winnipeg’s innovation sector, collaborating with the Mayor’s Office and other committees to develop better policy and procurement practices. He will oversee AI pilot projects in 2024-’25 and work on addressing digital gaps in city policies to ensure the effective use of new technologies.

Allard noted the potential for AI to improve city operations. His appointment builds on recent AI pilot projects, which aim to automate 311 inquiries, streamline non-emergency police calls, monitor road conditions, and process invoices more efficiently.

In his first official assignment, Allard represented the city at the launch event for the Manitoba Association of AI Professionals.
