Winnipeg cyclist charged after threatening driver with a knife

A 45-year-old Winnipeg man faces charges after police responded to a report of a man armed with a knife on Wednesday night near James Avenue and Main Street. Officers arrived quickly and arrested the suspect without incident, seizing a knife believed to have been used in the assault. The victim, a 23-year-old man, was unharmed.

Police investigation revealed that the incident began when the victim was driving east on James Avenue. The suspect, on a bicycle, reportedly became upset about sharing the roadway and threw his bicycle at the victim’s vehicle, lodging it beneath. The victim stopped and exited his vehicle to remove the bicycle.

The suspect allegedly began shouting obscenities, approached the victim, and threatened him while armed with a knife. The victim left the area and contacted police.

During his arrest, the 45-year-old Winnipeg man provided a false identity, but police later identified him through the Identification Section.
