Around 7:40 p.m., WFPS was called to a 14-storey apartment building in the 3000 block of Portage Avenue after a fire alarm was triggered. Firefighters entered the building and found smoke coming from one of the suites. Crews used hand lines to extinguish the flames and the fire was declared under control by 8:20 p.m. Some residents self-evacuated, while others sheltered in place. No injuries were reported, and the majority of the damage was confined to the suite where the fire originated. Damage estimates are currently unavailable.

Later, at 2:03 a.m., Thursday, WFPS was called to a townhouse in the 1300 block of Molson Street. Firefighters brought the blaze under control by 2:25 a.m. The occupants had self-evacuated before crews arrived. Paramedics assessed two people on-site, but neither required hospital transport. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and damage estimates are not yet available.
