Winnipeg Police confirmed that the dog was deceased at the scene. Both men were transported to the hospital in critical condition. The 84-year-old man later died, while the 67-year-old remains in critical condition.

The incident is believed to have been caused by carbon monoxide poisoning from a snow-blocked exhaust pipe. Police have stated there is no suspicion of foul play.

The Winnipeg Police Service is reminding the public to exercise caution in similar situations. Ensuring the exhaust pipe is clear of snow and avoiding prolonged idling in confined spaces can help prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.
