Jim Bester won $1 million on a free play LOTTO MAX ticket he cashed in on the Nov. 29 draw.
The Winnipeg winner said he went to check the ticket in-store and had to check a few times just to be sure what he was seeing.
“I went to the manager to confirm, and she said, ‘It’s a million dollars!’” he said. “My face went white. I was in shock. I had people congratulating me and shaking my hand, and it was all a blur!
“I wanted to jump for joy and run around the store. You only dream of these things — it’s what dreams are made out of, really!”
Bester said it’s been hard to keep a lid on his exciting news, but he’s already been making plans for how to enjoy his winnings.
“What I’ve wanted to do is pay off my mortgage, help my family members and maybe go on a trip — not sure where to yet!” he said. “I never thought I’d own my house, and now I will. It’s such a grateful feeling.”
Bester got his winning LOTTO MAX Free Play ticket at Red River Co-op at 1656 Main Street in Winnipeg. He won his prize by matching the selection for one of the MAXMILLIONS prizes in the Nov. 29 LOTTO MAX draw.
