On Wednesday evening around 5:30 p.m., Winnipeg police responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian near Byrd Avenue and Westwood Drive.

Emergency responders from the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service arrived to find an 84-year-old man with serious injuries. The man, a pedestrian, had been struck by a passenger vehicle. He was transported to the hospital in unstable condition but later succumbed to his injuries.
The 86-year-old male driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated fully with officers.
The Winnipeg Police Traffic Division has taken over the investigation. At this time, no charges have been laid.
