Friday afternoon, Winnipeg police responded to a report that an armed man was in a parked vehicle at the intersection of Home Street and Notre Dame Avenue.

The vehicle’s registered owner discovered a broken window and a male sleeping inside. He told police the man had an edged weapon and a firearm visible.
Police secured the vehicle, removed the individual and arrested him without incident. An imitation air pistol and a machete were seized.
A 31-year-old Winnipeg man is facing multiple charges, including two counts of possession of a weapon, three counts of possessing a firearm or prohibited weapon contrary to a prohibition order, mischief under $5,000, failure to comply with a probation order and failure to comply with a condition of a release order.
Police remind the public to report suspicious activity promptly and avoid direct confrontations when weapons are involved.
