Winnipeg police arrest suspect in stabbing incident

Winnipeg police responded to a stabbing report at an apartment building on Roblin Boulevard on Wednesday, at 5:24 p.m.

Officers found a 53-year-old man with serious upper-body injuries from a stabbing. He was taken to the hospital, treated, and stabilized. The suspect fled before police arrived but was later located and arrested in the 3100 block of Vialoux Drive. A knife believed to be used in the assault was recovered from the suspect.

The Major Crimes Unit is investigating the incident. They found that the suspect and victim had a verbal argument in a common area of the building, which escalated to the stabbing. The suspect and victim were not previously known to each other.

A 27-year-old Winnipeg man is facing charges of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, failure to comply with a probation order, and multiple counts of failing to comply with conditions of release. He remains in custody.
