A 35-year-old Winnipeg man was arrested early Wednesday after a pursuit involving Winnipeg Police and their Canine Unit. Shortly after midnight, officers spotted a 2014 Honda Civic EX driving erratically in the city’s North End. The vehicle had been reported stolen on Oct. 27 from the 100 block of Edmonton Street.

Police initiated a distant follow of the vehicle that was occupied by a lone suspect. While attempting to evade police, the suspect collided with another vehicle near Watt Street and Talbot Avenue and fled on foot.

The Winnipeg Police Canine Unit tracked the suspect to a residence in the 500 block of Riverton Avenue, where he was arrested without incident. The accused faces charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, fail to stop at the scene of an accident, and three counts of fail to comply with a release order.
