They heard that the man was driving a pickup truck with emergency lights, accused the driver of speeding but left the scene when asked for identification.

Officers conducted patrols to locate the vehicle, but it was not found.

On Tuesday, another report was received of a similar incident the previous evening near Clandeboye. A man stopped a female driver, accused her of speeding and using bright lights, but again left when asked for identification.

Investigators identified a suspect and on Thursday, a 32-year-old man was arrested for impersonating a peace officer. Items seized from his residence included vehicle lighting equipment, pepper spray, portable radios, and firearms. The suspect was released on an Undertaking with a court date.

Inspector Chris Lambert, Selkirk RCMP Detachment Commander, said, “While this is a rare occurrence, we take this type of incident very seriously.”

Lambert credited the victims’ reports for helping police quickly identify and arrest the suspect.
