According to Brandon Police (BPS) on Sunday around 5:53 p.m., an off-duty BPS officer reported that a woman was blocking traffic in the 800 block of Princess Avenue in Brandon.
Police said the officer confronted the woman in an attempt to get her to move out of the way of traffic, and she pulled a black pistol out and shot the off-duty officer four or five times in the upper body before the officer was able to gain control of the firearm and pull it away from her.
The woman fled the scene and was arrested a short time later on 9th Street in Brandon, police said.
Police said the shots were fired at the officer from a CO2-powered 4.5 mm calibre BB gun, and said that the officer sustained no physical injuries.
A 28-year-old woman faces several charges, including assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon, resisting arrest, and failing to comply with a previous release order.
