The city took a step forward Wednesday in the process of finding a new chief administrative officer.
A request for proposals is seeking a consultant to help with the search for someone to fill the top bureaucratic role at city hall after the resignation of former CAO Michael Jack last June.
Mayor Scott Gillingham and councillors Janice Lukes, Jeff Browaty, Ross Eadie and Devi Sharma are members of a previously announced hiring committee overseeing the recruitment process.
“We’re looking for a CAO who will foster a ‘Yes First’ service culture, push for innovative solutions to problems and build strong partnerships with other governments, the business community and the non-profit sector,” Gillingham said in a news release Wednesday.
“Above all, we need someone who can lead a high-performing team and help us deliver better service to Winnipeggers.”
The consultant will be expected to engage with the business community and leaders of “large, diverse organizations comparable in size and scope to the City of Winnipeg.”
“Their insights will help identify the qualities and expertise needed for an effective CAO,” the release said.
