Ensuring a Strong Future for Winnipeg’s Jewish Community: Meet the Leaders Behind the 2024-2025 Combined Jewish Appeal Campaign

Since its establishment in 1938, the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg has proudly served as the official representative of the city’s Jewish community. Guided by core Jewish values, the Federation fosters community unity, culture, and overall welfare. The Jewish Federation of Winnipeg raises funds for 12 local agencies, as well as national and international programs.

At the heart of the Federation’s efforts is the Combined Jewish Appeal Campaign (CJA), its primary fundraising division. The CJA has been a driving force in addressing the evolving needs of the community and ensures that the next generation is inspired to continue this essential work. As challenges grow and new ones emerge, the Federation believes that collective action is key to building the kind of community envisioned for future generations of Jewish Winnipeggers.

The Jewish Federation of Winnipeg is proud to announce the leadership team for the 2024-2025 CJA Campaign: Co-Chairs Gavin Rich and Darryl Levy, alongside Top Donors Chair Dafna Shore.

With Gavin Rich’s extensive experience as President of Tough Duck Safety and Work Apparel and president of the Cerebral Palsy Sports Association of Manitoba, alongside Darryl Levy’s distinguished career leading notable businesses as President of Rogers Communications and Wynward Insurance Group in addition to his community involvement as Co-Chair of United Way of Winnipeg campaign divisions, serving as a Trustee of the Richardson Foundation and Chair of the Business Council of Manitoba, and Dafna Shore the campaign is in very capable hands. Their leadership, coupled with the generosity of the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg’s supporters, will be essential to maintaining a strong and vibrant Jewish community in Winnipeg.

A Call to Action Amidst Rising Challenges

Canadians everywhere have felt the effects of inflation, increased housing costs, and the rising price of essentials like food and medication. The Jewish Federation of Winnipeg firmly believes that no one should be forced to choose between these necessities.

In the past year, the Jewish community has faced challenges that have tested its resilience. The threat of antisemitism remains present, amplified by events such as the attacks on Israeli civilians by Hamas on October 7th, 2023. These tragic events have fueled hate speech and propaganda, underscoring the need for continued solidarity and support.

The Jewish Federation is commitment to justice. Its support extends beyond Canada. Jewish communities worldwide, from Ukraine to Israel and beyond, face their own challenges, including economic instability, political unrest, and religious persecution. In times of crisis, the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg stands ready to provide critical assistance through partnerships with national and international organizations.

The Jewish Community needs your support more than ever, you can donate, volunteer and make a difference.
