Family seeks help to find 39-year-old man

The family of a missing Indigenous man made an emotional public plea to Winnipeggers to help find him on Tuesday.

Loved ones of Aaron Everett Sinclair gathered at the Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak office in Winnipeg to seek help with their search. Family members last heard from Aaron in a text on Aug. 2, while he last posted on Facebook on Aug. 10.

“We’re asking for some help in finding him safe to come home to us… I want my boy to come home,” said Joanne Sinclair, his mother, as her voice cracked with emotion. “Please help us find him. We’ve been looking for him all over in Winnipeg, all day, all night. We’ve been posting pictures around on Facebook, but we haven’t gotten any response.”

Joanne said her 39-year-old son is close to his family and regularly reaches out to relatives.

“He’s kind, loving, funny. He never took off on us. He was always around family,” she said.

Aaron is a member of Pimicikamak Cree Nation who has lived in Winnipeg for about a year. He is described as 5-9, about 210 pounds, with long brown hair that he often wears in a bun.

Anyone who has seen him is asked to call the Winnipeg police missing persons unit at 204-986-6250, Joanne Sinclair at 431-264-1319 or Lisa Sinclair at 204-676-0044.

Shirley Robinson, a councillor with Pimicikamak Cree Nation, urged anyone with knowledge about the missing man’s location to report it.

“This is very heavy on the family right now, not knowing where Aaron may be, not knowing how things are with him right now,” said Robinson.
