When you think of building a comfortable home you can enjoy for the long term, you might think of a kitchen with ample space to cook a gourmet meal. Or, maybe a place to kick back and watch the game, with room to do a little gaming yourself.
Your idea of comfort may not be the same as your neighbour’s, and that’s where Daytona Homes comes in. With more than 30 years of experience crafting comfortable homes, Daytona Homes is committed to making your home your own. It’s also committed to providing comfort before you even set foot in your new home.
It starts with the personal connection the company makes with prospective homebuyers.
“When you walk into a Daytona show home, you’re dealing with a Daytona employee,” says Alana Yaren, sales and marketing manager for Daytona Homes’ Manitoba and Saskatchewan division. “They know absolutely everything there is to know about our homes, but they’re also experts in the homebuying process. So, you’ve got that depth of expertise, which in itself can be comforting.”
Whether you’re a first-time homebuyer or you’ve been through the process before, Daytona Homes aims to make your experience easy and stress free.
Part of that involves being transparent with customers—quite literally. The company makes a regular practice of bringing customers into their homes, if they’re at a pre-construction or early enough construction stage, to get a behind-the-scenes look before the drywall goes up.
“When do you get an opportunity to see behind the walls of your home?” Yaren asks. “Never. We want you to see that your home was built properly and also, give you an opportunity to account for those last-minute changes before we seal up the walls.”
That might mean installing an extra electrical outlet in your would-be gaming room or adjusting the outlet for your TV, so the height is just right.
A week before you take possession, your Daytona Homes rep will walk you through your soon-to-be home again, this time, showing you how to operate and maintain the systems within it.
“If this is your first time owning a house, we’re going to show you how to change a furnace filter,” Yaren says. “That’s something that some people take for granted, but if you’ve never owned a home, or if you’ve come from overseas and never lived in a house with a furnace, it’s important to know.”
Next, you and your rep will identify any minor flaws that have your home looking less than perfect. It could be a chip in the floor, or paint that needs to be patched. Minor scuffs can happen with trades coming and going, so touch-ups are to be expected.
“We proactively look for deficiencies,” says Yaren. “We don’t shy away from them. Then, on your possession day, we’ll show you all the things we fixed.”
The company will do another check-in once you’ve been living in your home for a month or so.
“There are going to be things you didn’t notice until you moved in,” Yaren says. “Now that you’re in the home, you’re flushing the toilets, you’re opening the windows. We’ll come back and address any issues you’re having, so we can take care of them within your warranty period.”
It’s measures like these that bring comfort to the buyer, just knowing their builder is looking out for them.
“We are here for your journey,” says Yarin. “It doesn’t end when you sign a purchase agreement. It doesn’t end when you take possession. When you build with Daytona, you become part of the Daytona family. We are here with you all the way.”
