A child sex offender that police consider a high risk to commit further sex crimes against girls was released from Stony Mountain prison Wednesday, Manitoba law enforcement officials warn.
Darrell Erwin Ackman, 55, was convicted in May 2016 on 14 charges, including multiple counts of sex assault, living off the avails of prostitution and making child pornography.
He was sentenced to 10 years and eight months, which included four years and four months spent in pre-trial custody.

Ackman made headlines in 2012 when he posted provocative videos on YouTube under the name Mr. JetzTV. He was first arrested in July that year for recruiting teen girls for child sex abuse videos.
The Manitoba High Risk Sex Offender Unit said Wednesday that in 2011 and 2012, Ackman targeted vulnerable girls, gained their trust, victimized them sexually and exploited them into sex work for his gain.
He made video recordings of his underage victims and breached court conditions and assaulted police, police said. In 2013, Ackman was spotted putting up recruiting posters outside Grant Park High School, claiming to be casting “Mr. Jetz The Movie.”
Officials said Wednesday Ackman participated in some sex offender programming while behind bars, but is still considered a risk to girls, particularly teenagers.
Until September 2039, Ackman will be banned from being near anywhere people under the age of 16 can be expected to be present, including parks and swimming pools, daycares, schools and playgrounds.
He will also be banned from volunteering or working with anyone under 16 or contacting anyone under 16 unless the court deems it appropriate.
Ackman has been ordered to live at a specific location until November 2028. Until then, he’ll also be banned from possessing cellphones or computers, unless approved by his parole officer, and possessing or accessing any form of pornography.
