People accused of trespassing on private land within Lemay Forest are receiving legal warnings.
A lawyer for Tochal Developments Group is sending emails and letters to individuals the company believes trespassed on its land when a contractor began cutting down trees Tuesday, noted John Wintrup, the project’s planner.
“Your intentional and willful misconduct will not be tolerated. Cease and desist trespassing immediately,” a letter written by the developer’s lawyer states.

The letter also warned that further trespassing could lead to legal action.
Dozens of mature trees were chopped down Tuesday morning in the popular St. Norbert forest site that some area residents have fought to protect against development.
Tochal wants to build an assisted living facility at the site, which it argues would go a long way towards the city’s goal to create new housing.
Council will cast a final vote on the developer’s subdivision and rezoning applications for the proposed project Thursday; three city council committees have voted to reject them.
