Manitoba RCMP seized 61 kilograms of cocaine during a traffic stop at the end of March.
RCMP said Wednesday that the roving traffic unit stopped a vehicle driving westbound on the Trans-Canada Highway in the RM of Reynolds on March 29 around 7 p.m.
Officers suspected the driver was in possession drugs intending to sell them, RCMP said in a news release.
“After the vehicle was stopped, officers conducted a search. The search located a sophisticated after-market compartment in the rear of the SUV that contained 61 kilograms of cocaine,” the release said.
Officers seized the cocaine and arrested the driver, a 29-year-old man from Alberta.
Charges have not yet been laid as the investigation continues, RCMP said.
