10:07 AM

The Winnipeg Sea Bears have landed a big-name player from their own backyard.

The club announced Monday they’ve signed Jarred Ogungbemi-Jackson, a 32-year old point guard from Winnipeg with nine years of professional basketball experience.

The University of Calgary product most recently played in Belarus for BC Tsmoki-Minsk of the VTB United League, where he averaged a career-high 18.9 points per game through 33 contests to rank third among all scorers.

In 321 professional games — which features stops in France, Denmark, Netherlands, Finland, Spain and Portugal — Ogungbemi-Jackson has averaged 16.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 31.9 minutes.

This will be his first summer in the CEBL despite being picked in the third round by the Edmonton Stingers in the league’s inaugural entry draft back in 2019.
