Woman, teenage girl arrested after robbery

A 35-year-old woman and a teenage girl have been charged after two attempted carjackings in a Sterling Lyon Parkway parking lot Tuesday.

Investigators believe the two suspects approached an occupied vehicle in the parking lot and pulled out the 52-year-old female driver and assaulted her. Before this, they attempted to steal the car of a 77-year-old man in a nearby parking lot, with one suspect attacking the driver and the other entering the passenger side looking for items to steal. They were unable to pull him out of his vehicle.

Both victims received minor injuries. The adult suspect was arrested while attempting to flee the parking lot. The teenager was arrested on Wednesday.

Both suspects have been charged with robbery and released on an undertaking.

Man shot after attempted firearm sale on McPhillips Street

A man legally selling a firearm was shot multiple times on McPhillips Street Monday.

Officers found the 20-year-old victim on the 1000 block of McPhillips Street with multiple gunshot wounds around 10 p.m. Monday and gave him emergency medical care. He was then sent to hospital, where his condition was upgraded to stable.

Investigators believe the victim had met up with the suspects to complete a firearm purchase. The victim was selling the firearm legally and had proper documentation to own and sell. When the victim became suspicious of the buyers, one of the suspects took out his own firearm and shot multiple rounds into the victim’s car as he drove away.

The suspects fled before the police arrived. They are described as a white man in his twenties in a white hoodie, and a man in his thirties wearing dark clothing and carrying a long gun.

Woman stabbed at Osborne Village bus stop

A woman was stabbed as she waited for a bus in Osborne Village Monday night.

The victim, in her 30s, was waiting at a bus shelter at River Avenue and Osborne Street when a man approached her and an argument erupted, the Winnipeg Police Service said in a news release Thursday morning.

As the argument escalated, the victim was punched in the face, then stabbed, as the man tried to steal her bag, police said.

The victim was able to board a bus and contacted police.

The suspect was located nearby and taken into custody in possession of a knife, police said.

A 48-year-old Winnipeg man is facing a variety of charges, including robbery and assault with a weapon.

His name was not released.

The accused was released from custody.
